The Association of Brother James Court
"The purpose of the Association of Brother James Court is to support the Franciscan Brothers of the Holy Cross in the provision and maintenance of services and facilities that benefit the residents of Brother James Court through volunteer services and financial assistance"
The Association's main objective is to support Brother James Court in the provision and maintenance of the services through volunteerism and financial support. With economic crises facing both our state and the country, our Association can never have too many members working to sustain Brother James Court's objectives. We cannot become complacent thinking that this facility, housing and caring for 98 developmentally disabled men, is forever secure.
Association members must remain aware of the state and national legislative bodies' ability to suddenly impact the lives of the residents at Brother James Court. The abrupt closing of the Lincoln Developmental Center a few years ago is a prime example of why the family members of a resident at Brother James Court must communicate with each other.
Membership in the Association enables you to maintain awareness of legislative proposals and allows you to voice your support for or to speak against anything that might affect this wonderful facility or its residents. Though we may live all over the United States, we can speak as one voice as advocates for our family members.
In 2009 the Association of Brother James Court contributed almost $10,000 of the $40,000 Outdoor Project that replaced all the furnishings on the 4 patios and upgraded the walking track area and resurfaced the track.
